MENDELSSOHN AND BIZET – A MID-SUMMER CONCERT

The stage music for Shakespeare’s famous play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ written by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, immerses the listener in a luminous, lyrical and intimate fairytale atmosphere. Universally known for the presence of the wedding march, Mendelssohn’s masterpiece sees the participation of vocal soloists and the women’s choir in the finale. The second part of the concert includes Georges Bizet’s Prelude and Entr’acte from Carmen, in his operatic masterpiece. And closing the concert is L’Arlésienne, another memorable score written for the homonymous theatrical work.
